Child Development Centers

Child Development Centers

The practices of the Air Force Child Development Programs are based on current knowledge of child development and early childhood education. They support the development of the whole child, meaning all areas of development are considered inter-related and equally important. The CDC program acknowledges that children learn through active, hands-on involvement with their environment, peers and caring adults. We respect each child’s unique interests, experiences, abilities and needs, thus allowing us to be responsive to and appropriate for each child. Children are valued as individuals, as well as part of a group. Likewise, our program respects and supports the ideals, cultures, and values of families in their task of nurturing children. We advocate for children, families and the early childhood professionals within our programs.

CDC East and CDC West are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and are both certified by the Department of Defense. The Hill Air Force Base Child Development Centers (CDC) received the 2012 Air Force Program of the Year Award, recognizing the extremely high quality of care the centers provides to all Team Hill children. Offering care to children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years, both facilities are located on Mitchell Lane.

CDC Slot Rentals

CDC East and West are once again offering the option of renting out a family’s space when the family is not attending. This allows more flexibility for the family without having to disenroll during deployments or long vacations. Slot rental will be for a minimum of one week at a time, not to include daily or hourly care. Renters must meet all eligibility requirements. Please call the front desk of either CDC for more information.

Request for Care/Waiting List

We have switched to a new system for requesting care/waiting list. The new system will be through (MCC). (MCC) is a DoD website for eligible (AFI 34-144 ref. 11.8) families seeking child care. This single online gateway provides access to comprehensive military-operated and military-subsidized child care options worldwide. Ultimately, MCC makes it easier for families to find the child care they need. This change effects the Child Development Centers (CDCs), Family Child Care (FCC) homes, and School Age Care (SAC) programs on Hill AFB. Please call or stop by either CDC East, CDC West, Family Child Care, or the Youth Center for MCC literature.
